The Shrouded Urn

from Call of the Burning One by Swan Messiah

/

lyrics

Here stand the gates of slumber
Dissolves the cloak of life - rise
Opposing pillars of tension
Of severed smoke and veins
The crystal offerings, yellow
They fall on still remains

The fifth essential it moves me
To foreign fields and restless doves
Traversing, inclining, invoking the spires
That carve the paths above

My feet are grounded in wombs of dirt
My throat is shackled with fire
The arms of enlightenment seize in the sunshine
They eye though, desires the void

I, crawl below, where silent knives awaken
Plutonian resin, death meditates
With borrowed awe and flame
From earthen depths, the congregation
Sings a tome
Inviting owls across the plain
With hymns they will atone

On desert wings, the ancient Magi's words descend
Upon thy shrouded urn and hidden doors
The Monarch of the Dead

The burning Magi, beards ablaze
They float above through smoke and haze
The village pyre, star scorched ground
The tree of death, its will be done

A single cypress, lives alone
And keeps the secrets of our time
Atmospheric veil of which
Conceals the truth from fools

Compel the aerial majesties
To foretell of astral shrouds
Allatori henceforth assist
The solar winds break up the clouds

The burning Magi, beards ablaze
They float above through smoke and haze
The village pyre, star scorched ground
The tree of death, its will be done

Deliquesce 'neath silver skies
Descend unto the realms beneath
Presenting gifts of contemplation
As above, we shall bequeath

Blessings from the lord of fire
Exorcised of smoke and name
Invocation of the spires
May all His creatures feel the flame

Their secrets rest in atrament
Relayed to thee upon this page
Concealing truths from foolish men
And channel forth unto the mage

Black - star - ground to ash
Salt of salt, Lord of lords
Calcinate, coagulate

The spinnerets, weave a shroud
Built to protect but cripple us
With shibboleths, earthen bound

The arcanic portal beguiles the innocent
The numinous vestibule charges my hidden veins
The magical gloom it enshrouds the supernal eye
Enchanted in gloaming, enraptured empyrean waves

A star, made in-car-nate,
Khabs in the Khu (x2)
Bleeding, through mystical garments of thine,
Khabs in the Khu (x2)

Weaving a labyrinthine narrative vestibule back to the source of the law
Vicissitudes, mercurial, the undertow

Black light rises through me (x2)
White light, given from thee
The silent star rises from flaming swords far beyond time

about

Swan Messiah Melbourne, Australia

Swan Messiah emerged from the elysian depths of Port Philip Bay in the winter of 2010.
Wielding antipodean styled doom and dystopian drones, taking respectful cues from its misanthropic metal ancestry and dark folk traditions, Swan Messiah spent the ensuing winters conjuring its layered sound to wash upon the shore on which it currently rests. ... more
